Description This course is designed to help pet owners provide temporary, urgent care to pets until they can reach a veterinary or emergency clinic. You will learn to care for animals before, during, and after an emergency.
Who Should Take This Course? Any individual that has a pet including dogs, cats, small animals, birds, and other animals. Also, pet shops owners, vet clinic technicians, or other individuals that work with pets on a regular and professional basis.
Course Content This is a course that covers Basic Pet First Aid topics including common health and safety related issues, first aid, when to seek professional care, and disaster planning steps for the proper care of pets.
Required Student Materials Student will be provided with the Pet First Aid and Disaster Response Guide
Course Format and Exam –3.5 hours We will teach you how to perform CPR on our Dog Manikin Casper in class. Topics discussed include personal safety, choking, first aid for common emergencies, restraining and moving injured animals, pet CPR and planning for disasters. The course is didactic in nature, but includes several interactive break-out sessions. This class is endorsed by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute.
Course Completion Card Students receive the ECSI Pet First Aid Completion Card, valid for two years.
