Description  AHA Heartsaver classroom courses are Instructor-led, video based programs that feature group interaction with hands-on coaching and feedback from an American Heart Association Instructor.  The course teaches skills using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback, and guide students’ learning of skills.  This course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 U.S. states. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.  CE/CME credits are not offered for this course.

Who Should Take This Course? This course is intended for those involved in child care who have a duty to respond to children’s health emergencies, including child-care workers, teachers, foster-care workers, camp counselors, youth organizations, and coaches for children’s sports organizations.  This course meets the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 U.S. states. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.

Required Student Materials Any necessary materials will be provided during class.

Course Format and Exam This is a classroom, video-based (Instructor-led with skills assessment and testing conducted throughout). 

Course Completion Card  Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid, CPR and AED skills test, students receive a Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course completion card valid for two years. AHA cards will be processed as eCards, and usually received within 3-5 business days following the class.  Students can expect to receive an email from ecards@heart.org or noreply@heart.org, with a link to claim their eCard. Learn more >
