BLS Provider classes (Basic Life Support) are for medical students and healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is a certification class for doctors, nurses and others who work in the medical profession or in clinical areas, including nursing students and EMTs or healthcare providers renewing their current BLS certification. Choose the traditional course in a 3.5 hour classroom setting, or complete the self-directed online portion from the American Heart Association and complete a skills session.
Heartsaver CPR/AED, First Aid, First Aid CPR/AED, Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED and Bloodborne Pathogens are non medical certifications. Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (for example, OSHA), or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. For many Heartsaver courses, students receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years.
